Let’s Talk All About Long-Term Care

It’s never too early to map out your retirement—including a plan for long-term care should your health needs change in the future. According to The National Institute on Aging, long-term care refers to the variety of services designed to meet a person’s health or personal care needs during a short or long period of time.

Nothing beats having the peace of mind to fully enjoy retirement than knowing your future is secure. From assisted living, memory support and rehabilitation to home care, Montereau offers the full continuum of supportive services for every stage of retirement.

To help you make your plan for long-term care, here are some of the most frequently asked questions about our community and our continuum of care:

1. When is long-term care appropriate?

As a general guide, long-term care is often appropriate for those who have an ongoing health condition or permanent disability that requires 24-hour medical supervision and care without hospitalization.

2. Which health services neighborhood is right for me or a loved one?

A cognitive and functional assessment will be conducted by a Montereau healthcare professional. Once the medical and daily living needs are established, we can guide you on the best decision for you or a loved one.

3. What is assisted living?

This option is ideal for people who can still live independently but need extra assistance with daily tasks such as taking medication, bathing and housekeeping. A trained licensed nurse and certified nurse aides are available 24/7 to provide support.

4. What is memory care?

Memory care is essentially assisted living with specialized therapies and programming under the supervision of a dedicated team of professionals trained to care for people with Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of dementia.

5. What is skilled nursing?

Whether for short-term rehabilitation or long-term nursing support, skilled nursing offers more intensive care than assisted living, with around-the-clock support from licensed nurses and therapists.

The Montereau Home Care program offers you support on your terms and in the comfort of your own home. Our goal is to help you maintain independence with a customized level of personal care or valet support.
