We’re expanding resident fitness opportunities at Montereau! We have started a cardio class and a strength class rotation on Tuesday and Thursday of each week. Each rotation will run for two months, then we’ll change it up with new classes. For March and April the cardio class is Chair Aerobics and the strength class is Fall Prevention.
Chair Aerobics is a great way to elevate your heart rate while staying seated. Those who wish to do the moves from a standing position are welcome to do so, as well.
Fall Prevention focuses on weight shifting, postural alignment and balance. Residents also learn how to reduce their risk of falling through home safety, medication review and mobility in the community.
In addition to these two great classes, we have also introduced a new Chair Yoga class. Chair Yoga is geared toward seniors and includes yoga poses focused on balance, strength and flexibility. The class also includes time at the end for quieting the mind to reduce anxiety and stress.
