The Montereau community is celebrating another milestone – the 10th anniversary of its opening in 2003!
Celebrations kicked off in early October with an outstanding performance by the Montereau Chorus, followed by a lively “Oktoberfest” hosted by residents in appreciation of employees ….. a festive “Sunset Cruise” along the Mediterranean coasts (on the Grand Lawn) for residents and their families ….. a “Musical Cruise” performed by residents and staff ….. and an elegant “Captain’s Dinner.” It all took place on a fantasy cruise ship, aptly named by residents “The Good Ship Montereau.”
The partying continued into November with a “10-year Reunion” honoring 76 residents and 23 staff members who came to Montereau during the first year it was open.
Giving back to the Tulsa community is considered by residents to be the most important way in which they commemorated the 10th anniversary. Volunteerism is a valued tradition at Montereau, so it was no surprise that residents chose to host a Volunteer Fair in September to spotlight volunteer opportunities and recruit volunteers for special anniversary service projects.
More than 80 Montereau residents are active volunteers for nonprofit community organizations, as well as for the Health Centers at Montereau. They generously support the missions of numerous organizations, including the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma, Life Senior Services, the Alzheimer’s Association, Grissom Elementary School, Saint Francis Hospital, Meals on Wheels and RSVP (Retired Senior Volunteer Program).
