Rehabilitation Services at Montereau

Proper therapy can restore abilities lost during an
illness or injury. Montereau's team of rehabilitation professionals strive to help patients return
to their optimum functioning levels.

The Health Centers at Montereau has its own team of qualified rehabilitation therapists who are on-site to work with Montereau residents, both in the Health Centers and Independent Living.

Skilled Physical Therapy is available to individuals recovering from fractures, trauma, back injury, stroke and other debilitating conditions. Therapy includes wound care, pain management, and problems with balance.

Treatment can help the patient:.

  • Improve balance and endurance
  • Learn safe lifting and and movement strategies.
  • Establish exercise programs.
  • Increase mobility.
  • Set up the living environment.
  • Choose appropriate equipment.

Speech Therapy

When someone is having difficulty thinking, listening, speaking, or swallowing, skilled speech therapists are on hand to help. Individuals often experience these problems as a result of stroke, head injury, ALS, multiple sclerosis or dementia.

Treatment can help the patient:.

  • Use strategies to help remember both past and upcoming events.
  • Break down and organize information for easier decision making .
  • Stay oriented.
  • Communicate when experiencing problems finding the right words.
  • Learn listening strategies.
  • Find the best diet for ease of swallowing.
  • Understand others.
  • Speak clearly.

Individuals recovering from a variety of debilitating conditions such as arthritis, stroke, trauma and dementia receive the assistance they need from Montereau's Occupational Therapists.

Treatment can help the patient:.

  • Learn how to use adaptive equipment techniques to overcome physical disabilities.
  • Reduce the effects of arthritis and maintain normal joint movement in arms and hands.
  • Learn strengthening and coordination exercises.
  • Learn transitional skills, such as eating, dressing, using the bathroom, bathing, meal preparation and home management.
  • Handle hand or arm problems due to arthritis, swelling or spasms.
