Montereau Residents Volunteer for Food Bank
by Shannon Muchmore, Tulsa World
The Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma appreciates all the donations it receives, but there’s still work to be done after the delivery.
When 1 million pounds of unlabeled cans arrived in November, they needed to be identified and categorized before they could be given to one of the food bank’s member agencies. When residents at the Montereau in Warren Woods retirement community heard the call for volunteers, they stepped in to help.
“We feel like we’re doing some good for the needy,” said Ray Canfield, who lives at Montereau
with his wife. “And we don’t mind the exercise.”
