Ms. Montereau Going to Las Vegas
The lovely Ruby Farish was one of six Montereau residents who bravely volunteered (after much encouragement) to enter the first Ms. Montereau pageant.
After winning the title of Ms. Montereau, Ruby quickly ascended to Ms. Oklahoma Senior America. She is now preparing to represent Oklahoma in the Ms. Senior America pageant in November in Las Vegas.
Ruby grew up in Delight, Arkansas and married Dr. Joseph K. Farish on the TV program "Bride and Groom." She has lived in Tulsa for 45 years. Ruby served as Chaplain for the Tulsa Police Department for 12 years and in 1972 became a founder of the agency later named the Parent Child Center of Tulsa for prevention and treatment of child abuse.

Lake of the Woods Gets Makeover
The lure of Montereau's tranquil Lake of the Woods will be even more enticing when lake enhancements are completed this summer.
Thanks to donations from residents, the Lake will be stocked with a mix of several hundred more fish -- including black bass, catfish and bluegill. Plus, one resident is donating a canopy shelter, table and chairs to be installed at the north end of the Lake in honor of the Montereau staff. Montereau will also construct a fishing pier to extend out from the concrete pad.
Catch and release etiquette will keep the fishing great for years to come. Whether it's fishing, walking the trails, dancing, playing bridge, or singing, the myriad of activities for Montereau residents to choose from keeps getting better and better.

Ground Broken for New Cottages
Construction has begun on the first of five custom cottages being built on the north end of the Montereau campus. Four of the five cottages are reserved, but one is still available for a couple or individual who want to customize their floor plan and interior decor to meet their personal needs. The new cottages will be 2,700 to 3,000 square feet.
Jamie Townsend , Marketing Director, said that even though Montereau is 94% full, there is still one completed cottage available, plus a nice selection of the popular two-bedroom "Wild Rose" apartments.
For details, call Jamie or Andy Eckstein at 495-1500, or e-mail them at info@montereau.net.

Montereau Offers Onsite Therapy
A staff of eight licensed therapists provide Physical, Speech and Occupational Therapy onsite to Montereau residents. Their convenient services are one of the valuable benefits of living in Montereau's Continuing Care Retirement Community.
With a doctor's prescription, residents of both the Health Centers and Independent Living can receive therapeutical services in the comfort of their own residences, or in Montereau's physical therapy center or the fitness center. Most of the therapies are covered by Medicare or personal health insurance.
Professional therapists can provide everything from physical therapy for neck or back pain, to voice therapy, balance training, or cognitive retraining. So, whether you need help recuperating from surgery, improving your swallowing function, or enhancing your memory, the experts at Montereau will assist at your convenience. The goal is to keep residents healthy, mobile and independent for as long as possible.

Montereau Chorus Salutes the USA
Montereau's Chorus celebrated Independence Day with a rousing performance of patriotic music. A standing-room-only crowd of residents, their families and guests were treated to a review of American favorites by the chorus of 30+ members.
The Montereau Chorus was self-organized by a group of residents who love to sing. Volunteers alternate directing the chorus and serving as MC for the popular performances which are scheduled about once a quarter in Montereau's Coterie Theater.
Chuck and Ginny Scott took the lead for the 4th of July event. Ginny directed the singers, while Chuck was Master of Ceremonies and introduced each song with fascinating anecdotes.
